As a member of the firm’s Nonprofit & Art Law practice group, Katie L. Steiner counsels museums and other nonprofit organizations, as well as foundations, trusts, and private collectors.  Katie advises on matters involving the acquisition, lending, and borrowing of works of art, corporate governance, tax issues, international transactions, and litigation.  Specific to art museums, Katie represents clients on Nazi-era and cultural-property claims, complex donation agreements, copyright and fair-use issues, NAGPRA and endangered-species compliance, and loan and exhibition agreements.

Katie brings professional museum experience and an academic background in art history to her legal practice.  She holds a master’s degree in art history from Williams College and previously served in curatorial roles at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Frick Collection in New York.

In addition to her art-law practice, Katie supports the firm’s Restructuring, Bankruptcy, and Insolvency group, especially in creditors’ rights matters.
