Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking a skilled litigation paralegal for our San Diego office to support attorneys working on a variety of commercial litigation matters pending in State and Federal courts throughout California.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of commercial litigation experience in a law firm setting (defense side)
  • Strong knowledge of CA state courts and federal court rules and procedures
  • Experience with all aspects of pre-trial preparation and trial support, including trial support software (Trial Director or similar program)
  • Proficiency in case preparation from start to finish and understanding of a paralegal’s role in the litigation life cycle

Responsibilities: As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Prepare drafts of pleadings, notices, and motions for filings in state and federal court
  • Assist in the preparation of deposition notices and deposition materials
  • Organize and maintain case files, including indexing and filing documents
  • Coordinate with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel for interviews and depositions
  • Track and manage discovery, including document productions and e-discovery
  • Manage deadlines and ensure timely filing of court documents, including e-filing

Qualities We Seek: The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 2 or 4-year degree and paralegal certificate preferred; work experience may substitute for education level
  • Experience with document production and discovery
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills with the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to meet deadlines, have a high attention to detail, and take ownership over projects
  • Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw), document management (iManage) and document review (Nuix, formerly Ringtail) systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000-$120,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, experience level, education/training, and relevant skills. Paralegals also participate in a merit-based bonus program and are provided administrative assistance and professional development opportunities.
