Hahn Loeser Attorneys Patrick White and Matthew Wagner presented “Update on Executive Orders Impacting DEI” during the Illinois Local Government Lawyers Association‘s (ILGLA) annual Spring Seminar. Patrick and Matthew provided an overview of Executive Orders 14151 and 14173, and the impact of the Executive Orders on diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility programs and initiatives. They discussed the impact of the Executive Orders on federal contractors and grantees, the risk of liability under the False Claims Act for non-compliance, and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Fraud Initiative. Patrick and Matthew also explored some of the recent court challenges to Executive Orders 14151 and 14173 and offered some suggestions of actions contractors and grantees can take to be prepared for the government’s implementation of the Executive Orders.
