Hahn Loeser successfully defended Chicago Title Insurance Company in a two-week jury trial in State Court in Kansas City involving a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of over 40,000 Missouri residents alleging they were “overcharged” for recording fees in real estate closings in Missouri between 2000-2008. The primary issue litigated was Plaintiffs’ claim for $211 million in punitive damages. On January 30, the jury handed Chicago Title a clear victory, finding in its favor on all three punitive damages claims.
