A California jury held an internet service provider (ISP) liable for hosting web sites that infringed Louis Vuitton’s trademarks. This is the first time an ISP has been found guilty of contributory trademark infringement. Key to this decision was the fact that Louis Vuitton’s repeated notices of infringement were ignored by the ISP.
