Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP Welcomes J. Adam Barker to San Diego Office

Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP is pleased to announce that J. Adam Barker joined the firm’s San Diego office as Of Counsel in its Trusts and Estates Practice Group.

“Adam’s experience in complex trusts and estates law as well as his tax controversy background add significant depth to our highly regarded and growing Trusts and Estates Group,” remarked Michael J. Gleason, Partner-in-Charge of the San Diego office. “He has worked through a number of unique cases over the years and we are excited to have him as part of our expanding team in San Diego.”

Barker counsels clients in the areas of estate and trust planning and representing taxpayers in tax controversies. He assists individuals and families in wealth transfer planning through the creation of wills, living trusts, and irrevocable trusts.  Barker also represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in disputes relating to the administration of trusts and in trust litigation.

In his tax controversy practice, Barker has helped hundreds of individuals, businesses, estates and trusts navigate tax problems with the Internal Revenue Service, the Franchise Tax Board, and other taxing authorities. His experience includes representation in examinations and audits, representation in appeals, litigation in the Tax Court, collection defense, offers in compromise, payment agreements, large-dollar penalty abatement, Trust Fund Recovery Penalty determinations, worker classifications, and other similar matters.

Barker earned both his J.D. and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law in 2002 and 2004 respectively. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado in 1999.

He is admitted to practice law in California, Massachusetts and Colorado.
