Marc J. Kessler focuses his practice in the area of business litigation, with an emphasis on complex commercial transactions, securities, business torts, real estate, product liability, construction, sports facilities, insurance, bankruptcy, health care and aviation issues. Marc is also chair of the litigation department in the firm's Columbus office, with experience including trial and appellate litigation in both state and federal courts throughout the country. He provides strategic business counsel to numerous large corporations headquartered in the Midwest.
Marc’s trial experience includes representing clients in numerous jury and non-jury trials. His recent experience includes litigation involving the validity and enforceability of non-compete agreements for a multinational corporation, accounting malpractice claims covering tax and audit issues, and the enforcement and defense of substantial contract rights involving business acquisitions, asset sales and purchases in one of the largest bankruptcy cases ever filed in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Marc has defended large and small brokerage houses concerning allegations under the Investment Advisors Act of 1940 and various state investment advisor statutes.
Marc is active in community organizations supporting Central Ohio. In 2000, he received Business First’s prestigious “Forty Under 40” award, which is given to individuals who have made exemplary leadership contributions to their legal, business and civic communities. He has also been consistently recognized for his legal abilities by being selected by his peers for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers from 2003 through 2013; he was also named to the list of the "Top 100 Ohio Super Lawyers" in 2011.
