In his eighteen years of practice, Jeff has helped clients resolve a wide variety of disputes and other matters in Ohio and throughout the United States. As a partner in the Columbus Litigation Group, Jeff focuses on providing clients with practical advice and strategies for managing risk and finding meaningful and sometimes creative solutions for clients involved in business and complex commercial litigation. Jeff has extensive experience litigating, arbitrating, and mediating a wide variety of business litigation matters involving breaches of contract, business torts, responsibility for environmental remediation, borrower/lender disputes intellectual property, defamation claims and personality interests, employment issues, class action claims, and real estate issues.
Jeff’s experience includes litigating cases on behalf of, and against businesses, private entities, and government actors. His recent successes including obtaining summary judgment in state court against a municipality for breach of an agricultural lease agreement. Prior to that, he represented an earlier client against that same municipality in federal court, in which summary judgment for breach of contract was also granted, and affirmed after he argued the case before the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also successfully resolved complex litigation requiring the renegotiation of lease agreements throughout the country; litigated and resolved issues arising from ownership disputes in several different contexts; and resolved claims relating to indemnification rights arising from environmental claims.
Jeff has also represented a variety of clients in disputes arising out of asset purchase agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and earn-out agreements. These cases have involved numerous issues, including disputes relating to contractual warranties, due diligence, notice provisions, prospective obligations, and responsibility for environmental claims and issues.
Jeff maintains an AV® Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest available ranking for legal ability and professional ethics. He was also recently recognized by Columbus CEO Magazine as a Top Lawyer. Jeff has served the community in a number of capacities over the years. He has served on the Columbus Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Serving Committee, which has addressed a wide variety of government and regulatory issues facing businesses both in the Columbus area and the State of Ohio. He has also served on the Chamber’s Small Business Council, which advocates for a variety of small and emerging businesses in the greater Columbus region. He has also served the local bar as a past chair of the Federal Court Committee of the Columbus Bar Association, where he organized and helped facilitate meetings in which federal judges and magistrates provided insight and guidance to the legal community. He is also a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Art League, and a life member of the Children’s Hospital Development Board.
Jeffrey has served on the Small Business Council and the Government Affairs Subcommittee for the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. Jeffrey has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Art League, and he has been a member of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Development Board since 2005.
Jeffrey prioritizes spending time with his two children at their Columbus, Ohio, home. He enjoys reading, films, video and board games, art and graphic novels.
