The Income, Estate and Gift Tax Consequences of Divorce

Juan D. Bendeck, Michael G. Dana and Allison B. Christensen presented this program that focused on the tax consequences that often accompany divorce proceedings during this webcast presentation hosted by The Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar. The program's goal was to assist attorneys in recognizing the impact a divorce may have on their clients, especially in the areas of spousal support, child support, estate and gift taxes.

Juan D. Bendeck focuses his practice in estate planning, estate administration and asset protection planning. He formulates and drafts tax-efficient estate plans for his clients, including more advanced and novel estate planning techniques geared toward lessening estate and gift tax liability. His practice includes the administration of complex wills and trusts. Additionally, Juan works with physicians and other professionals interested in asset protection planning.

Michael G. Dana focuses his practice on representing U.S. businesses and their owners in connection with U.S. federal income tax issues, including the international tax provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, Michael advises foreign businesses and investors with the U.S. federal income tax implications of making an investment into the U.S. or otherwise operating a business in the U.S.  Michael also advises clients in connection with State and local income and sales tax matters.

Allison B. Christensen concentrates her practice in litigation. She provides clients with strategic counseling, and legal advice on a variety of matters, including commercial litigation, real estate and construction contracts, business transactions, business torts, business disputes, will and trust contests, disputed estate and trust administrations, guardianship litigation and appeals. Allison also has experience in securities, sports and intellectual property law.
