Hahn Loeser Attorney Volunteers Time at Commercial Law Training Programme

Harare, Zimbabwe. The Law Society of Zimbabwe (LSZ) in collaboration with the International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP) recent completed a Commercial Law Training Programme (CLTP) for senior and junior legal practitioners. Over 120 Zimbabwean lawyers participated in the two day training sessions. The CLTP for junior lawyers was held in September and focused on ensuring that new lawyers obtained the skills and insight necessary to effectively act for business clients and individuals involved in a manner of commercial transactions. The CLTP for senior practitioners was held after the junior lawyers session in September and focused on updating senior lawyers on the latest developments and legal trends in representing business clients in sophisticated and complex business transactions such as large infrastructure projects. 

The faculty for the CLTP included an impressive collection of international and Zimbabwean legal talent. The ISLP international lawyers, who volunteered their time, including Deon Govender, a senior partner in the Johannesburg office of Covington & Burling, a US law firm based in Washington, DC., Craig Owen White, a senior partner of Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, a US law firm based in Cleveland, Ohio and Marie Kingston, the ISLP program officer based in London, England. 
 
The CLTP has been conducted annually for over ten years and is designed to ensure that Zimbabwean lawyers are exposed to and knowledgeable of the latest trends, customs and best practices in representing clients in commercial and business transactions.
